The author of "Kaizen Strategies for Successful Leadership". Tony's career in training and management development is to combine both Eastern and Western practices. He is charismatic and enthusiastic making him an inspirational speaker.
Tony Barnes has had a long and distinguished career in training and management development. Tony worked under Dr Edward Deming in Japan in the 50s, 60s and 70s, experiencing at first hand the application of new holistic management practices that produced the Japanese post-war economic miracle. He came to understand that this miracle was achieved through an insistence on the highest standards of quality and customer service, a totally committed workforce and the practice of Kaizen, or continuous improvement.
Since then he has travelled the world, learning from companies that are considered to be at the leading edge of their field. He started his own company to work with companies looking to radically improve their performance. He does not like to be called a consultant or academic, but rather a practitioner enabling companies to set up their own internal systems for continuous improvement.
Today he is also a much sought after international speaker, inviting his audience to embark on a journey of discovery to uncover the most successful practices and the best ideas from the world’s leading global players.
He is a regular guest of the TEC in the USA where he speaks to groups of chief executives on leadership, innovation and continuous improvement, and he has been voted Best Speaker of the Year two years running.
Tony runs the Leadership through the Future course at the Institute of Directors in London, and is retained as an advisor by several leading companies both in the UK and America. His presentations are not just for management however; he has the ability and presence to motivate and enthuse whole workforces or groups of employees and because his philosophies match the mission of the UK’s Investors in People programme, he is often asked to address IIP conferences or to work with companies about to embark on the programme.

He continues to be active globally whether at conferences, seminars, events or workshops where requirement of a really dynamic and charismatic speaker is needed. He moves the paradigm of thinking and gives added value to people at all levels of organisation. He combines East and West in a unique and remarkable approach specifically linked to the way future business will operate. His recent involvement in management development has been in taking the ‘Art of Leadership’ course at the IoD UK and speaking in-house to over 30 companies as part of their people development programmes.
