He helps clients to relate appropriate new technologies to specific communication needs and from his decade of presenting Tomorrow’s World, he is well used for communicating new ideas in ways that are interesting and relevant to his target audience.
A familiar face to millions from his work on BBC Television’s Tomorrow’s World, Michael Rodd founded Blackrod in 1980. The company, now incorporated into Lipfriend Rodd International, has become one of the UK’s leading independent producers of film and video. In 1985 he helped establish Blackrod Interactive Services and today Lipfriend Rodd International develops multimedia applications across all internationally accepted technology platforms.
The principles Michael applies to his work today had already been put into practice on the award-winning BBC series The Risk Business which related business realities to market opportunities. In 1980 he won the Industrial Broadcaster of the Year Award, presented by the British Institute of Management. Though much of his work remains in conventional film and video, he also helps a wide client base relate appropriate new technologies to specific communication needs. From his decade of presenting Tomorrow’s World, he is well used to communicating new ideas in ways that are interesting and relevant to his target audience.
Michael continues to contribute to broadcast programmes, these include:-
The Business Exchange – the live Channel 4 programme dedicated to helping people make a start in business on their own.
Business Matters – BBC
The Real World – TVS
Commercial Break – Tyne Tees
Northern Business Awards – Tyne Tees
Invention – Discovery Channel (European edition)
As a speaker/presenter, Michael regularly handles satellite link-ups, chairs and presents meetings, conferences and seminars on behalf of clients. Very often he is asked to work behind the scenes advising senior business figures involved in communications projects.
Whether he is on stage or off, Michael applies the same rigorous journalistic approach to all his work, ensuring that the story being told is clear, credible and supported by the best evidence. His work has always left a positive, enjoyable and lasting impression on its target audience.
