Biography

Dr David Bull is a well-known public figure as a British doctor and television presenter best known as part of the teams of Newsround, Watchdog and Tomorrow’s World, tackling various extreme issues.

He qualified in 1993 from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London with a Bachelor of Medicine and a Bachelor of Surgery degree (MBBS) as well as a first class Bachelor of Science degree (BSc).  He worked as a junior doctor in the NHS at St Mary’s Hospital, Paddington; Ealing Hospital and the Whittington Hospital, Archway in the fields of General Medicine and Accident and Emergency Medicine. He worked as a full- time NHS doctor for three years.

He started broadcasting at the age of 13 when he bought his own mobile disco and he continued with this all through University.

His broadcasting career started in 1995 as an on-screen doctor for Sky TV giving advice to those travelling abroad - his first appearance was on Sky Travel. In 1996 he joined the team at Newsround on BBC1 becoming the first person to broadcast exclusively to children about health issues, tackling subjects as diverse as facial disfigurement, bullying and anorexia. Within six months his documentary on bullying won an RTS Award for best children’s factual programme.  He continued in children’s television making the break into main-stream presenting when he was given his own show called ‘Sort It!’

He then moved into Daytime Television joining ‘The Really Useful Show’ and then in 1999 joined the team at Watchdog. He has presented a string of successful high-profile shows for the BBC, including Newsround, Watchdog, Watchdog Healthcheck and Tomorrow’s World. His presenting credits also include Most Haunted Live and Hospital Live for Living TV. He has also written two books.

An entrepreneur, he founded his own creative communication company, ‘IncrediBull Ideas’ in 2000 and now employs over 25 full-time staff.

He is an ardent campaigner and has been instrumental in a number of high-profile political campaigns including getting people out to vote, engaging young people in politics, cleaning up dirty hospitals, improving sexual health in Britain and implementing new born screening for the life-threatening condition, Cystic Fibrosis. He is heavily involved in charitable work for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust, Medic Alert and The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme. He is also an ambassador for The British Red Cross.

David is passionate about politics and has interviewed many influential political figures and chaired ‘Ask the Conference Live’ at the Conservative Party Conference 2006.  He continues to espouse his views on the current affairs show, The Wright Stuff and has a regular newspaper column.

David lives in Docklands, London. His hobbies include property, partying and the gym. He also still finds time to DJ!
