The latest documentary to feature Derek Redmond was aired on Informe Robinson (‘The Robinson Report’) at the end of October. The twenty minute documentary, made by Spanish TV channel Canal +, closely follows the moving story of Derek’s athletics career. Starting by focusing on Derek’s heart-breaking attempt to finish the 400m in the 1992 Olympics despite a torn hamstring, the documentary features Derek and his friends and family telling the story of his rise to sporting brilliance and revisiting the events that ultimately led to the end of his career. The documentary also focuses on the relationship Derek has with his father; as they walk the same track on which the fated race occurred, eighteen years on, they reminisce about how, together, they managed to get Derek over the finishing line when it mattered the most.
If you happen to be a Spanish speaker (or even if you are not; the majority of the audio is actually in English!) you can enjoy the video below.
