Heston, Jamie, Gordon and Hugh Team up for Fish Welfare

Heston Blumenthal, Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall are once again uniting in the name of animal welfare, coming together to host a series of programmes in 2011 entitled ‘The Great Fish Fight’. The chefs, who previously took part in ‘The Great Food Fight’, are supporting a campaign designed to raise awareness about the enormous amount of fish that are discarded and overfished every year in E.U waters. The campaign kicks off with Hugh’s Fish Fight in early 2011 and will include Jamie Oliver’s 10 part series Jamie’s Fish Suppers, in which he will encourage viewers to consider the virtues of the most plentiful species of fish. Heston Blumenthal will host Heston's Fish Feast, in which he creates a "marine cuisine banquet like nothing seen before". Gordon will be looking at the reality of farming the key ingredient for the renowned delicacy shark fin soup, and will actually be swimming with the sharks themselves! You can show your support for the campaign and find out more about it here.

It has been ten years since presenter and broadcaster Chris Evans graced our screens on Channel Four. He has decided to return after this lengthy absence with a show powerfully different from Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush, the fast paced, gag-laden game show that helped launch Chris’s television career. The new show, Famous and Fearless, will feature celebrities pitting their wits and muscles against a variety of extreme sports, including BMX biking, street luge and monster trucks, in the hope of winning a cash prize for their chosen charity. Chris commented, ‘Famous and Fearless will be brilliant…Simply a huge, ambitious show with celebrities, monster trucks and an arena crowd, live every night. What's not to like?’. The double Olympic Champion Dame Kelly Holmes has also become the first celebrity contestant to be revealed as taking part in the show
Famous and Fearless will be broadcast live in the New Year.

Some Quotations From Dom Joly in the Jungle
"PhotoDom Joly has been trying to keep up the flagging spirits of the jungle dwellers on I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here! with inspiring words of wisdom:
“I’m dressed like a very gay Ray Mears so things could be better.”
“I though Brit Ekland, is that going to be good? Probably not.  Sh*gged Rod Stewart. Never a good sign is it?”
On Brit: “She reminds me of a German school mistress. She might get the ruler out and smack you on the buttocks.”
On Gillian ‘I’m going to be totally kind until she does the usual wussy stuff. If she faints again I’ll kick her.’
Joe Simpson Set to Publish New Book
"PhotoMountaineer, author of Touching The Void and motivational speaker Joe Simpson has revealed on his Twitter page that his new book The Sound of Gravity will be published next year. The novel, his seventh book, deals with the dark and dangerous side of mountain climbing, and how every moment and decision on the icy peaks can have life-changing consequences. Joe’s given us a brief synopsis of the novel to whet our appetites:
"As her hand slips from his grip, Patrick's life is shattered, forever changed. The Sound of Gravity is a harrowing, dramatic and powerful tale of love, loss and redemption, as that haunting, split-second memory changes the course of a lifetime. Trapped high on a stormbound mountain face in the icy depths of winter, the stricken young man is forced to fight for his life. Half a lifetime later, haunted by grief and guilt, Patrick is freed from his self-imposed vigil when at last the mountain releases his heart-rending secret."

The book is Joe's second foray into fiction; he commented that it was ‘scary and tough to write’ but that he loved writing it and is pleased with the end result.

The Sound of Gravity (published by Jonathon Cape at Random House) will be available to buy from September 2011 and can be ordered through the Parliament Speakers Contact Page.
