Joe Simpson Set to Publish New Book

Mountaineer, author of Touching The Void and motivational speaker Joe Simpson has revealed on his Twitter page that his new book The Sound of Gravity will be published next year. The novel, his seventh book, deals with the dark and dangerous side of mountain climbing, and how every moment and decision on the icy peaks can have life-changing consequences. Joe’s given us a brief synopsis of the novel to whet our appetites:

"As her hand slips from his grip, Patrick's life is shattered, forever changed. The Sound of Gravity is a harrowing, dramatic and powerful tale of love, loss and redemption, as that haunting, split-second memory changes the course of a lifetime. Trapped high on a stormbound mountain face in the icy depths of winter, the stricken young man is forced to fight for his life. Half a lifetime later, haunted by grief and guilt, Patrick is freed from his self-imposed vigil when at last the mountain releases his heart-rending secret."

The book is Joe's second foray into fiction; he commented that it was ‘scary and tough to write’ but that he loved writing it and is pleased with the end result.

The Sound of Gravity (published by Jonathon Cape at Random House) will be available to buy from September 2011 and can be ordered through the Parliament Speakers Contact Page.
